AN ACT
amending Title 38, chapter 4, article 2, Arizona Revised Statutes, by adding section 38-628; relating to public employee travel expenses.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:
Section 1. Title 38, chapter 4, article 2, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding section 38-628, to read:
38-628. Travel expenses; airfare; reimbursement; definitions
A. Notwithstanding section 38‑623, when the official duties or activities of a public official or public employee require travel away from the public official's or public employee's designated post of duty by airplane, reimbursement for airfare may not exceed the cost of coach airfare and may not include any upgrades such as business class or first class seating. ONly public officials and public employees are eligible for reimbursement by a public entity.
B. For the purposes of this section:
1. "Public employee" means an employee of a public entity.
2. "Public entity" includes this state and any political subdivision of this state.
3. "Public official" means a person who is duly elected, appointed or retained through election to an elected state, county, city or town office.
4. "State" means this state and any state agency, board, commission, department or university.
