AN ACT

 

amending section 15‑1231, Arizona Revised Statutes; relating to school district funds.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:

Section 1.  Heading change

The article heading of title 15, chapter 10, article 9, Arizona Revised Statutes, is changed from "CAREER AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION AND VOCATIONAL EDUCATION PROJECTS FUND" to "CAREER AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION PROJECTS FUND".

Sec. 2.  Section 15-1231, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended to read:

START_STATUTE15-1231.  Career and technical education projects fund

A.  The governing board of a school district may establish a permanent career and technical education and vocational education projects fund in an amount not to exceed one hundred thousand dollars $100,000.  The fund shall consist consists of proceeds from the sale of items produced or services provided by career and technical education and vocational education programs.  Monies in the fund may be used for any of the following purposes:

1.  Purchase of materials for use by career and technical education and vocational education pupils in an instructional program that produces a product or provides a service that may be sold by the school district.

2.  Purchase of equipment, not to exceed five thousand dollars in any one fiscal year, or services for use by career and technical education and vocational education pupils in an instructional program which that produces a product or provides a service that may be sold by the school district.

3.  Expenses directly related to the planning and design of designing career and technical education and vocational education program products or services.

4.  Expenses related to an approved department of education career and technical student organization, including costs associated with events, conferences or competitions.

B.  Monies in the career and technical education and vocational education projects fund may not be used to pay salaries, wages or employee fringe benefits.

C.  All purchases made from the career and technical education projects fund must comply with chapter 2, article 1 of this title, including all provisions relating to procurement practices.

C.  D.  The career and technical education and vocational education projects fund of a school district is a continuing fund, and monies in the career and technical education and vocational education projects fund are not subject to reversion, except that all monies in the career and technical education projects fund in excess of one hundred thousand dollars $100,000 at the end of the fiscal year shall revert to the school plant maintenance and operation fund.
