AN ACT

 

amending title 42, chapter 1, article 3, Arizona Revised Statutes, by adding section 42‑1131; relating to the department of revenue.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:

Section 1.  Title 42, chapter 1, article 3, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding section 42-1131, to read:

START_STATUTE42-1131.  Electronic signatures; definition

A.  An electronic signature may be used to sign a writing on a document that is submitted to the department.  The electronic signature has the same force and effect as a written signature.

B.  For the purposes of this section, "electronic signature" has the same meaning prescribed in section 44‑7002. END_STATUTE

Sec. 2.  Exemption from rulemaking

For the purposes of this act, the department of revenue is exempt from the rulemaking requirements of title 41, chapter 6, Arizona Revised Statutes, for one year after the effective date of this act.
