AN ACT

relating to the statewide assessment, third grade promotion and letter grades for the 2020-2021 school year.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:

Section 1. Statewide assessment; third grade promotion; letter grades; 2020-2021 school year

Notwithstanding any other law, for the 2020-2021 school year:

1. The statewide assessment adopted pursuant to section 15-741, Arizona Revised Statutes, is canceled.

2. A pupil is not required to meet the requirements prescribed in section 15-701, Arizona Revised Statutes, to be promoted from the third grade.

3. A public school's letter grade pursuant to section 15-241, Arizona Revised Statutes, is the public school's 2018-2019 letter grade.

Sec. 2. Retroactivity

This section applies retroactively to from and after June 30, 2020.

Sec. 3. Emergency

This act is an emergency measure that is necessary to preserve the public peace, health or safety and is operative immediately as provided by law.
