AN ACT
Appropriating monies to the department of economic security.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:
Section 1. Appropriation; department of economic security; emergency shelter beds
The sum of $5,000,000 is appropriated from the state general fund in fiscal year 2021-2022 to the department of economic security for emergency shelter beds in western Maricopa County to shelter and serve homeless seniors who are at least fifty-five years of age. The department shall distribute the monies to a single Arizona nonprofit provider that meets all of the following:
1. Has experience in sheltering four hundred or more homeless individuals nightly in temporary shelter.
2. Has at least ten years of experience working with the most chronically homeless individuals in Maricopa County.
3. Has experience in providing housing placement services under the housing first model.
4. Participates in the coordinated entry system pursuant to the requirements of the Maricopa continuum of care.
