AN ACT
Amending title 36, chapter 29, article 1, Arizona Revised Statutes, by adding section 36-2902.03; Amending title 41, chapter 14, article 1, Arizona Revised Statutes, by adding section 41-1970; relating to public benefits.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:
Section 1. Title 36, chapter 29, article 1, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding section 36-2902.03, to read:
36-2902.03. Tribal identification
For the purposes of this chapter, the administration shall comply with the requirements of section 41-1970 regarding the acceptance of tribal member identification as primary and secondary identification sources.
Sec. 2. Title 41, chapter 14, article 1, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding section 41-1970, to read:
41-1970. Identification; tribal members; public benefits; definition
A. In addition to any other identification accepted by the department of economic security and the ARizona health care cost containment system administration as proof of a person's identity, The departments shall accept the following identification as acceptable proof of identity for a person applying for public benefits:
1. Tribal census number documentation that is issued by the United States department of the interior, bureau of Indian affairs as primary identification.
2. A tribal member identification card with the person's photograph that is issued by a federally recognized tribal government as primary identification.
3. A tribal member identification card without the person's photograph that is issued by a federally recognized tribal government as secondary identification.
B. For the purposes of this section, "public benefits" includes unemployment compensation, supplemental nutrition assistance, temporary assistance for needy families, medicaid, the arizona long-term care system and the children's health insurance program.
