Overview
Allows a city or town to train its own employees to work on elections, if approved by the Secretary of State (SOS).
History
The SOS is required to provide for the examination of applicants for election officer certificates. A person must demonstrate, to the satisfaction of the SOS, that the person is competent to perform the work of an election officer or of the clerk of the board of supervisors or the county recorder in the performance of election duties. Additionally, the SOS must provide for election officer certification programs of which successful completion of a course of instruction in the technical, legal and administrative aspects of conducting elections within the state provides for the certification. If the city or town chooses, any city or town employees who work on elections may enroll in the certification program prescribed by statute and the city or town must reimburse the SOS for the costs of conducting the training (A.R.S. § 16-407).
Provisions
1. Authorizes a city or town to train its own employees who work on elections if the city or town training program is approved by the SOS. (Sec. 1)
