Overview

Adds two more public members to the Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training (AZPOST) board.

History

AZPOST was established to address the need for minimum peace officer selection, recruitment, retention and training standards and to provide curriculum and standards for all certified law enforcement training facilities.

Currently, AZPOST has 13 members that are appointed by the Governor and includes two sheriffs, two chiefs of police, a college faculty member, the Arizona Attorney General, the director of the Department of Public Safety, the director of the Arizona Department of Corrections, a person who administers county or municipal correctional facilities, two certified law enforcement officers and two public members (A.R.S § 41-1821).
