History
A civilian review board is an entity external to a police department’s internal affairs, and consists of citizens from outside the department, appointed by the mayor or other senior government official. It is generally charged with the duty of reviewing complaints and making recommendations as to disciplinary action after the police department has complete its own investigation and made a disciplinary recommendation.

a) A community college police academy; or
b) 80 hours of Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training (AZPOST) board certified training (Sec. 1)
2. Outlines the subject areas that are included in the 80 hours of AZPOST board certified training. (Sec. 1)
3. Requires members that are currently sitting on civilian review boards to complete the required training within one year of the effective date of the bill. (Sec. 1)
4. Defines civilian review board as a committee that is comprised entirely or partially of civilian appointees and:
a) Receives community complaints about the actions taken by employees of a state or local law enforcement agency;
b) Reviews, monitors, audits or participates in internal investigations of employees of state or local law enforcement agencies;
c) Recommends policy changes or disciplinary measures to state or local law enforcement agencies;
d) Issues reports or information about actions taken by an employee of a state or local law enforcement; and
