HB 2723: campaign finance; reports; contribution amount
Sponsor: Representative Kavanagh, LD 23
Caucus & COW
Overview
Increases the contribution threshold for campaign finance reporting to $200 from individuals for that election cycle.
History
Current statute requires a committee to file a campaign finance report with the filing officer. The Secretary of State's instructions and procedures manual prescribes the format for all reports and statements. A campaign finance report is required to include, among other statutorily prescribed items, the amount of cash on hand at the beginning of the reporting period and total receipts during the reporting period. The total receipts must include an itemized list of receipts including the source, amount and date of receipt, together with the total of all receipts in each category. Some categories that are required to be included are contributions and the aggregate amount from individuals whose contributions exceed $50 for that election cycle (A.R.S. § 16-926).
Provisions
