Overview
Requires traffic survival school courses of instruction to be offered and completed in person and may not be offered online with an outlined exemption.
History
Pursuant to A.R.S. § 28-3413, rules adopted by ADOT are required to state the requirements for a traffic survival school license including requirements concerning location, equipment, courses of instruction, instructors, previous records of the school and instructors, characters and reputations of the operators and instructors, insurance in an amount and with provisions that the director deems necessary to protect adequately the interests of the public and other matters prescribed by the director.
A.A.C. R17-5-319 (F) allows the private entity to develop and administer a web site that allows individuals who are assigned to traffic survival school to locate and enroll online in a traffic survival school course.
Traffic survival school is defined as a school that offers educational sessions to drivers who are required to attend and successfully complete educational sessions that are designed to improve the safety and habits of drivers and that are approved by ADOT (A.R.S. § 28-101).
Provisions
1. Requires rules adopted for a traffic survival school license to include a requirement that courses of instruction be offered and completed in person and may not be offered online unless:
a) A state of emergency has been declared by the Governor; and
b) ADOT determines the emergency prevents courses being offered safely in person. (Sec. 1)
