Overview
Allows sheriffs, constables and their deputies to practice law or form a partnership with an attorney-at-law.
History
County sheriffs and constables and their deputies are currently prohibited from practicing law or forming a partnership with an attorney-at-law. A county attorney and their deputies, in a county with 60,000 or more people, cannot engage in the private practice of law, except:
1) a special deputy county attorney can be appointed on a fee basis like manner as a special assistant attorney with consent of the board of supervisors; and
2) deputy county attorneys can, but are not required to, represent private clients in pro bono, private civil matters under certain circumstances (A.R.S. § 11-403).
Provisions
1. Allows sheriffs, constables and their deputies to practice law or form a partnership with an attorney-at-law. (Sec. 1)
