Overview
Expresses the Legislature's desire that the Congress of the United States (U.S. Congress) protests the proposed closing of the Cherrybell Postal Processing and Distribution Center (Center).
History
The Center is located in Tucson, Arizona and serves more than 1.8 million people, 23,197 businesses and processes over 2.6 million pieces of mail a day. The Center serves Southern Arizona, which includes the Tohono O’odham Nation, Pasqua Yaqui tribal lands and Pima, Santa Cruz and Cochise Counties.
Provisions
1. Urges the U.S. Congress to protest the proposed closing of the Center and take any necessary action to fully restore its operations.
2. Directs the Secretary of State to transmit copies of this memorial to the President of the U.S. Senate, Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives and each member of the U.S. Congress from the State of Arizona.
