Overview

Declares the Legislature's support for maintaining nine justices on the Supreme Court of the United States (Supreme Court).

History

The number of Justices on the Supreme Court has been nine since 1869 and are seated on the Bench by seniority.  Members of the Supreme Court are appointed by the President of the United States subject to the approval of the Senate.  Members generally serve life terms.
