SB 1024: enduring freedom memorial; appropriation

Overview

Requires the Arizona Department of Administration (ADOA) to use monies in the State Monument and Memorial Repair Fund to alter or modify the Enduring Freedom Memorial (Memorial) to add additional names.

History

The State Monument and Memorial Repair Fund (Fund) is composed of monies from:

1)   Donations;

2)   Monies from fund-raising activities;

3)   Monies collected by proponents of a monument or memorial;

4)   Grants received for monuments or memorials, except for grants dedicated otherwise; and

5)   Legislative appropriations.

The ADOA is responsible for administering the Fund. All monies in the Fund are subject to legislative appropriation. ADOA is directed to use the appropriated monies for monument and memorial maintenance, repair, reconditioning or relocation and supporting mechanical equipment in the governmental mall (A.R.S. § 41-1365).
