Overview
Modifies the word count for descriptions of initiative and referendum measures.
History
Current statute details the form for referring to the people by a referendum petition an item or measure, section or part of a measure enacted by the legislature, or by the legislative body of an incorporated city, town or county. Additionally, statute outlines the form of petition for an amendment to the constitution or a law of this state or county legislative measure, city or town ordinance or an amendment to a city or town charter proposed by initiative. For each, included with the petition must be a description of no more than 100 words that describes the principal provisions of the proposal (A.R.S. §§ 19-101, 19-102).
Provisions
1. Increases the word count for initiative and referendum ballot measure descriptions from 100 words to 200 words. (Sec. 1-3)
