Sponsor:  Senator Livingston, LD 22

Committee on Commerce

Overview

Prohibits the Department of Insurance and Financial Institutions (DIFI) from requiring a proctor to administer any required post-course examinations for self-study continuing education courses that licensees complete online.

History

An insurance producer is a person who is required to be licensed to sell, solicit or negotiate insurance in Arizona. An insurance producer must complete credit hours in approved continuing education courses provided by an approved provider, with certain exceptions, in order to be considered for renewal of an insurance producer license. Insurance producers may receive credit for courses only once during each license period. After the completion of such courses, the provider must furnish the licensee a certificate of compliance. The Director of DIFI is prohibited from renewing an individual’s license without evidence that the insurance producer has completed the required credit hours (A.R.S. §§ 20-281 and 20-2902).
