Sponsor:  Senator Pace, LD  25

Committee on Health & Human Services

Overview

Requires specified health profession regulatory boards to develop a preceptorship awareness campaign.

History

In Arizona, a health profession regulatory board regulates, certifies and licenses various health professions under Title 32 including: 1) medicine and surgery as a physician; 2) nursing; 3) osteopathic medicine; and 4) medicine as a physician assistant (A.R.S. 32-3101).

Statute allows a health profession regulatory board to issue and approve preceptorships to an applicant or licensee who: 1) fulfills prescribed requirements; 2) has not had a license suspended or revoked; 3) is not currently under investigation; 4) has not surrendered a license in lieu of a disciplinary action; 5) has not engaged in any criminal or civil conduct that would be considered unprofessional conduct; and 6) has no disciplinary action on a license (A.R.S. § 32-3123).
