Overview
Appropriates $300 million from the state General Fund (GF) in FY 2021 to the Public Safety Personnel Retirement System (PSPRS) to be deposited in the employer account of the Department of Public Safety (DPS) PSPRS group to reduce the unfunded accrued liability.
History
DPS is responsible for the enforcement of state criminal laws and traffic regulations in protecting public safety. In addition to the Highway Patrol, DPS operates and maintains statewide communications systems, state crime laboratories and an automated fingerprint identification network, special investigations and other law enforcement activities (A.R.S. § 41-1711).
PSPRS provides retirement, survivors, health and disability benefits to public employees who work in a public safety capacity, such as law enforcement officials and firefighters (A.R.S. § 38-841).
Provisions
1. Appropriates $300 million from the state GF in FY 2021 to PSPRS to be deposited in the employer account of the DPS PSPRS group to reduce the unfunded accrued liability. (Sec. 1)
