appropriations; coordinated hunger services
Purpose
Appropriates $1,000,000 from the state General Fund (state GF) in FYs 2022, 2023 and 2024 to the Department of Economic Security (DES) for coordinated hunger services.
Background
According to the Joint Legislative Budget Committee the FY 2022 baseline includes $1,754,600 in which $1,254,600 from the state GF is for coordinated hunger service programs. State and federal dollars are used to administer the hunger service programs to assist in statewide food distribution for food banks. In FY 2020, the funding assisted in distribution of 190,000,000 pounds of food (JLBC).
S.B. 1369 appropriates $1,000,000 from the state GF in FYs 2022, 2023 and 2024.
Provisions
1. Appropriates $1,000,000 from the state GF in FYs 2022, 2023 and 2024 to DES for coordinated hunger services.
2. Becomes effective on the general effective date.
