ARIZONA STATE SENATE
Fifty-Fifth Legislature, First Regular Session
appropriation; new facility; Kirkland elementary
Purpose
Appropriates $2,000,000 from the state General Fund (state GF) in FY 2022 to the School Facilities Board (SFB) to distribute to the Kirkland Elementary School District to construct a new school facility.
Background
The
SFB is composed of nine gubernatorial appointments and the Superintendent of
Public Instruction. The SFB must assess school facilities and equipment
deficiencies to distribute grants for building repairs and renovations in
addition to inspecting school buildings to ensure compliance with building
adequacy standards and preventive maintenance guidelines (A.R.S.
§ 15-2002).
The SFB administers the New School Facilities Fund (NSF Fund), the Building Renewal Grant Fund (BRG Fund) and the Emergency Deficiencies Correction Fund to provide capital funding for K-12 school districts. The NSF Fund consists of legislative appropriations and monies received from the lease of state public school land for public education purposes. Monies in the NSF Fund provide K-12 school districts funding to purchase land and construct new school facilities to accommodate student enrollment growth. The BRG Fund consists of legislative appropriations, and monies in the BRG Fund are distributed to school districts for maintaining the adequacy of existing school facilities (A.R.S. §§ 15-2032 and 15-2041).
Kirkland Elementary School District is in the unincorporated community of Kirkland. Kirkland is located in Central Yavapai County and is southwest of the City of Prescott (ADOT Maps).
