appropriation; Camelback Road widening
Purpose
Appropriates $8,000,000 from the state General Fund (state GF) in FY 2022 to the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) to distribute to the City of Goodyear to widen Camelback Road.
Background
ADOT is responsible for the design and construction of state public transportation systems and the maintenance and operation of state highways in Arizona (A.R.S. § 28-332). ADOT is permitted to contract and do all things necessary to secure the full benefits available to Arizona for transportation purposes under federal law which includes cooperation with: 1) federal, state and local government agencies; 2) Indian tribes; 3) private and public organizations; and 4) private individuals. ADOT is also permitted to exchange federal monies with local governments in order to receive local monies and is allowed to include additional federal monies in the exchange to offset the matching costs required of local governments (A.R.S. § 28-334).
The City of Goodyear is located in Maricopa County. The distance between the Loop 303 and Litchfield Road is approximately 3.4 miles (ADOT Maps).
S.B. 1465 appropriates $8,000,000 from the state GF in FY 2022 to ADOT to distribute to the City of Goodyear.
Provisions
1. Appropriates $8,000,000 from the state GF in FY 2022 to ADOT to distribute to the City of Goodyear to widen Camelback Road from the Loop 303 to Litchfield Road.
2. Becomes effective on the general effective date.
