appropriation; State Route 95; repaving
Purpose
Appropriates $20,000,000 from the state General Fund (state GF) in FY 2022 to the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) to repave portions of State Route 95.
Background
ADOT is responsible for the design and construction of state public transportation systems and the maintenance and operation of state highways in Arizona (A.R.S. § 28-332). ADOT may contract and do all things necessary to secure the full benefits available to Arizona for transportation purposes under federal law, including cooperation with: 1) federal, state and local government agencies; 2) Indian tribes; 3) private and public organizations; and 4) private individuals. ADOT may also exchange federal monies with local governments in order to receive local monies and is allowed to include additional federal monies in the exchange to offset the matching costs required of local governments (A.R.S. § 28-334).
State Route 95 runs 116 miles from Lake Havasu City to Bullhead City (ADOT Maps).
H.B. 2072 appropriates $20,000,000 from the state GF in FY 2022 to ADOT.
Provisions
1. Appropriates $20,000,000 from the state GF in FY 2022 to ADOT to repave portions of State Route 95 from Interstate 40 to Sara Park in Lake Havasu and the Bullhead Parkway intersection in Bullhead City to the Courtwright Road intersection in Mohave Valley on roads rated as fair or poor by ADOT.
2. Exempts the appropriation from lapsing through FY 2023.
3. Becomes effective on the general effective date.
