ARIZONA STATE SENATE

Arizona department of agriculture; continuation
Purpose
Continues the Arizona Department of Agriculture (AZDA) for 8 years.
Background
The AZDA is charged with supporting and the promotion of farming, ranching, and agribusiness for the benefit of the State of Arizona. The AZDA consists of six divisions including the Animal Services Division, the Plant Services Division, the Environmental Services Division, the Weights and Measure Services Division, the Pest Management Division, and the Citrus, Fruit, and Vegetable Division. (A.R.S § 3-102.)
There is no anticipated fiscal impact to the state General Fund associated with this legislation.
Provisions
1. Continues, retroactive to July 1, 2021, the AZDA until July 1, 2029.
2. Repeals the AZDA on January 1, 2030.
3. Continues the AZDA for 8 years.
4. Becomes effective on the general effective date, retroactive to July 1, 2021.
