FACT SHEET FOR H.B. 2133

 

appropriation; Grand Avenue; SR 303

Purpose

            Appropriates $150,000 from the state General Fund (state GF) in FY 2022 to the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) to study options for expanding the on and off ramps at the intersection of Grand Avenue and State Route 303 (SR 303).

Background

            ADOT is responsible for the design and construction of state public transportation systems and the maintenance and operation of state highways in Arizona. ADOT has administrative jurisdiction of transportation safety programs and must implement the programs in accordance with applicable law (A.R.S. § 28-332). ADOT may contract and do all things necessary to secure the full benefits available to Arizona for transportation purposes under federal law, which includes cooperation with: 1) federal, state and local government agencies; 2) Indian tribes; 3) private and public organizations; and 4) private individuals. ADOT may also exchange federal monies with local governments in order to receive local monies and is allowed to include additional federal monies in the exchange to offset the matching costs required of local governments (A.R.S.
§ 28-334
).

            SR 303 intersects Grand Avenue between mile markers 119 and 120 in the City of Surprise, Arizona (ADOT Maps).

            H.B. 2133 appropriates $150,000 from the state GF in FY 2022 to ADOT.

Provisions

1.   Appropriates $150,000 from the state GF in FY 2022 to ADOT to study options for expanding the on and off ramps at the intersection of Grand Avenue and SR 303.

2.   Becomes effective on the general effective date.
