DHS; long-term care facility surveyors
Purpose
Appropriates $3,300,000 and 44 full-time equivalent (FTE) positions from the state General Fund (state GF) in FY 2022 to the Department of Health Services (DHS) to hire additional long-term care facility surveyors.
Background
DHS is responsible for the licensure, regulation and inspection of health care institutions in Arizona, including long-term care facilities. Health care institutions include every place, institution, building and agency, whether organized for profit or not, that provides facilities with medical services, nursing services, behavioral health services, health screening services, other health-related services, supervisory care services, personal care services or direct care services and includes home health agencies, outdoor behavioral health care programs and hospice service agencies (A.R.S. § 36-401).
H.B. 2299 appropriates $3,300,000 and 44 FTE positions from the state GF in FY 2022 to DHS.
Provisions

2. Becomes effective on the general effective date.
