appropriation; southern border region enforcement
Purpose
Appropriates $1,100,000 from the state General Fund (state GF) in FY 2022 to the Department of Public Safety (DPS) to distribute to border county sheriffs to procure cameras, software and services for southern Arizona border region enforcement.
Background
DPS is responsible for creating and coordinating services for use by local law enforcement agencies in protecting the public safety. DPS must formulate plans with a view to establish modern services for the prevention of crime, apprehension of violators, training of law enforcement personnel and promotion of public safety (A.R.S. § 41-1711).
H.B. 2379 appropriates $1,100,000 from the state GF in FY 2022 to DPS.
Provisions
1. Appropriates $1,100,000 from the state GF in FY 2022 to DPS to distribute to the Cochise, Pima, Santa Cruz and Yuma County Sheriffs to procure cameras, software and services for southern Arizona border region enforcement.
2. Becomes effective on the general effective date.
