ARIZONA STATE SENATE

town councils; financial statements; websites
Purpose
Requires, at least 10 days before a biennial election, the common council of a town to publish the town's biennial financial statement on the town website.
The corporate powers of an incorporated town are vested in a common council (A.R.S. § 9-231). The common council must, at least 10 days before a biennial election, publish the following in a newspaper published in the town, or in three or more public places in the town if there is no newspaper published in the town: 1) a full and correct statement of all monies received into the town treasury since the last report; 2) the sources from which the monies were severally derived; and 3) all disbursements and expenditures and the account upon which the disbursement was made (A.R.S. § 9-246).
There is no anticipated fiscal impact to the state General Fund associated with this legislation.
Provisions
1. Requires, at least 10 days before a biennial election, the common council of a town to publish the town's biennial financial statement on the town website.
2. Makes technical changes.
3. Becomes effective on the general effective date.
