Overview
Specifies that the application of an insurance company or its agent for a salvage, stolen or nonrepairable vehicle certificate of title is not required to have an endorsed certificate of title if a notarized signature is not required for the transfer.
History
If a vehicle that is subject to the issuance of a certificate of title or registration becomes a salvage vehicle, stolen vehicle or nonrepairable vehicle and is acquired by an insurance company as a result of a total loss insurance settlement, the insurance company or its authorized agent shall submit an application, as determined by the insurance company or its authorized agent, to the department within thirty days after the certificate of title is properly assigned by the owner to the insurance company, with all liens released, on a form prescribed by the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) for either a salvage certificate of title, stolen vehicle certificate of title or nonrepairable vehicle certificate of title (A.R.S. § 28-2091).
Provisions
1. Specifies that the application of an insurance company or its agent for a salvage, stolen or nonrepairable vehicle certificate of title is not required to have an endorsed certificate of title if a notarized signature on the title or supporting documents is not required for the transfer. (Sec. 1)
2. Requires the written attempts of an insurance company attempting to obtain required documents for the application to only be sent to the vehicle owner or lienholder. (Sec. 1)
