Sponsor: Representative Hoffman, LD 12

Caucus & COW

Overview

Prohibits the use of electronic vote adjudication at a counting center.

History

All proceedings at the counting center are under the direction of the county board of supervisors (board) or other officer in charge of elections.  If any ballot, including an early ballot, is damaged or defective so that it cannot be properly counted by the automatic tabulating equipment, a true duplicate copy must be made of the ballot in the presence of witnesses and substituted for the damaged or defective ballot (A.R.S. § 16-621).

If the counting center automatic tabulating equipment includes an electronic vote adjudication feature it must be included in the tabulation system logic and accuracy testing, the board or officer in charge of elections must appoint an electronic vote adjudication board and a method must be used to track and account for the original ballot and the digital duplicate (A.R.S. § 16-621).
