Overview
Lessens the amount of training hours required for a cosmetologists and hairstylists license.
History
A cosmetologist is a person who is licensed to perform, for cosmetic purposes, such practices as 1) massages, cleanses, or applying oils or lotions by hand; 2) arches or tints eyebrows or lashes; 3) removes superfluous hair; 4) nail technology; or 5) hairstyling.
Statute outlines cosmetologist licensure qualifications which include: 1) graduating from a cosmetology course consisting of at least 1,500 hours of training in a licensed school; or 2) graduating from a cosmetology school in another state that had at the time of the person's graduation substantially the same requirements as Arizona's (A.R.S. § 32-511).
A hairstylist is a person who is licensed to practice hairstyling, which includes: 1) cutting or trimming hair; 2) styling, curling, straightening, bleaching or dyeing hair; 3) removing superfluous hair.
Statute outlines hairstylist licensure qualifications which include: 1) completing a hairstylist course consisting of at least 1,000 hours of training in a licensed school; or 2) graduating from a hairstyling school in another state that had at the time of the person's graduation substantially the same requirements as Arizona's (A.R.S. § 32-512.01).
Provisions
1. Reduces the required amount of training hours to receive a cosmetologist license from at least 1,500 to at least 1,000 hours. (Sec.1)
2. Reduces the required amount of training hours to receive a hairstylist license from at least 1,000 to at least 600 hours. (Sec. 2)
