Overview
Appropriates $1,500,000 from the state General Fund (GF) in FY 2023 to the Department of Economic Security (DES) to distribute to the Area Agencies on Aging (AAAs).
History
The federal Older Americans Act of 1965 established AAAs, which are public or private nonprofit organizations for an area within the state (42 U.S. Code § 3025). DES has designated eight regions of Arizona, each with its own AAA (DES website).
Laws 2019, Ch. 270 established the Family Caregiver Grant Program, which defined a care coordinator and case manager as a person who provides services, including home and community-based services through the AAAs (A.R.S. 46-341).
Provisions
1. Appropriates $1,500,000 from the GF in FY 2023 to DES to distribute to the AAAs for home and community-based services. (Sec. 1)
2. Exempts the appropriation from lapsing. (Sec. 1)
3. States that the Legislature intends the appropriation to be ongoing in future years. (Sec. 1)
