Overview

Appropriates $1,000,000 in FY 2023 from the state General Fund (GF) to the Arizona Department of Water Resources (ADWR) to find solutions to overcome legal impediments to implementing water efficiency projects.

History

ADWR is responsible for administering state water laws relating to surface water, groundwater, dams and reservoirs (A.R.S. § 45-103). Each year, the ADWR Director must provide an annual report of the ADWR's operations to the Governor, Legislature and public by July 1. The report must include suggestions to amend existing laws or enact new legislation and any other information, suggestions and recommendations the Director considers valuable to the public (A.R.S. § 45-111).

2.   Requires ADWR to identify possible solutions to overcome the legal impediments that hinder implementation of water efficiency projects. (Sec. 1)

3.   Directs ADWR submit a report of its findings to the Governor, the Speaker of the House of Representatives and the President of the Senate and post a copy of the report on its website by March 1, 2023. (Sec. 1)
