Overview
Authorizes Arizona Trail Fund (ATF) monies be used for constructing, maintaining and improving water sources, signs, gates and public access.
History
The Arizona Trail (trail) is a scenic trail that extends approximately 800 miles between the southern and northern border of Arizona. It is designed for nonmotorized recreational uses including hiking, biking and horseback riding (A.R.S. § 41-511.15).
The ATF is used by the Arizona State Parks Board (SPB) to establish, maintain and preserve the trail, which includes providing information to those involved with developing and maintaining the trail and preparing a trail management plan. This fund consists of legislative appropriations and donations (A.R.S. § 41-511.15). ATF was appropriated monies in the following FYs:
1) $150,000 in FY 2017 from the State Parks Revenue Fund (SPRF);
2) $250,000 in FY 2020 from a combination of monies from the SPRF and the Off-highway Vehicle Recreation Fund (VRF) administered by SPB; and
3) $250,000 in FY 2022 from a combination of monies from the state General Fund, SPRF, VRF and the State Parks Store Fund administered by SPB (Laws 2016, Chapter 117, § 148; Laws 2019, Chapter 263, § 71 and Laws 2021, Chapter 408, § 68).
