Overview

Deletes language requiring a legislator or legislative staff member to serve as a member of the Public Safety Personnel Retirement System (PSPRS) advisory committee.

History

The PSPRS advisory committee serves as a liaison between the board of trustees of PSPRS and the members and employers of the system.  The members of the advisory committee are appointed by the chairperson of the board of trustees from names submitted to the chairperson by associations that represent firefighters, law enforcement, counties, state government, cities, towns and tribal governments.  Current statute outlines the specific members that are part of the advisory committee (A.R.S. § 38-848).

Laws 2021, Ch. 251, § 2 added the requirement that the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives each appoint one member to the PSPRS advisory committee who is either a legislator or a legislative staff member.
