SB 1390: committee and program termination; repeal

Overview

Deletes statute relating to expired programs, committees and commissions.

History

Laws 2021, Chapter 285 removed the requirement that certain statutorily established programs and committees include a termination date and directed Legislative Council staff to prepare proposed conforming legislation in the Fifty-fifth Legislature, Second Regular Session.

Provisions

1.   Repeals statute for the following expired committees, programs, commissions, offices and accounts:

a)   Residential drug treatment program;

b)   Arizona critical language and economic development pilot program;

c)   Data governance commission;

d)   Mathematics or science achievement grant program;

e)   Arizona scholarships for pupils with disabilities;

f) Voluntary employer enhanced compliance program;

g)   Roads of regional significance congestion mitigation account;

h)   Point of service finger imaging program;

i)   Comprehensive care for the elderly program;

j)   Joint border security advisory committee;

k)   Arizona biofuels conversion program;

l)   Community accountability pilot program;

m) Teaching offenders to live program;

n)   School conflict mediation program;

o)   Senior advisory committee;

p)   Arizona unclaimed property assistance office; and

q)   Unlawful practices in telecommunications and ancillary services. (Sec. 1, 3, 6, 11, 13, 20, 22, 24)

2.   Removes the statutory termination date for the following:

a)   Arizona's participation in the education commission of the states;

b)   State prison transition program;

c)   Doula community advisory committee;

d)   Teratogen information program;

e)   Environmental exposure risk assessment program; and

f) Telehealth advisory committee on telehealth best practices. (Sec. 8, 15, 18-21)

3.   Contains a delayed repeal date of July 1, 2030, rather than a termination date, for the Alternative Teacher Development Program and the State Prison Transition Program. (Sec. 5, 14, 15)
