mask mandates; minors; parental consent

Purpose

Prohibits the state or a political subdivision, governmental entity, school district or charter school from requiring a person under 18 years of age to wear a mask or face covering without the express consent of the person's parent or guardian.

Background

An Arizona business is not required to enforce a state, municipal, county or other jurisdictional mask mandate on its patrons (A.R.S. 44-7951).

There is no anticipated fiscal impact to the state General Fund associated with this legislation. 

Provisions

1.   Prohibits the state or a political subdivision, governmental entity, school district or charter school from requiring a person under 18 years of age to wear a mask or face covering without the express consent of the person's parent or guardian.

2.   Becomes effective on the general effective date.
