An Act
amending title 16, chapter 6, article 1.1, Arizona Revised Statutes, by adding section 16-905.01; relating to campaign contributions and expenses.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:
Section 1. Title 16, chapter 6, article 1.1, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding section 16-905.01, to read:
16-905.01. Election officer; committee membership; prohibition; exception
a. Neither the secretary of state, a member of a county board of supervisors, a county recorder, nor any other officer in charge of elections, elected or non-elected, shall be a chairperson, treasurer, or other member of a political action committee. Nor shall any employee of such person, or of a board of supervisors as a whole, be a chairperson, treasurer or other member of a political action committee.
B. Neither the secretary of state, a member of a county board of supervisors, a county recorder, nor any other officer in charge of elections, elected or non-elected, shall coordinate with any political action committee with respect to any fundraising or any advocacy for the support or defeat of any candidate for office or ballot measure. nor shall any employee of such, or of a board of supervisors as a whole, person be a chairperson, treasurer or other member of a political action committee.
C. Subsections B and C of this section extend to independent contractors of such persons who are contracted with for work related to elections.
D. For the avoidance of doubt, subsection A of this section does not apply to an individual's membership in a candidate committee for that individual's own candidacy.
