Ruben T. Castro passed away on June 21, 2023 in Superior, Arizona, at the age of 92.

Born in Miami, Arizona on January 18, 1931, Ruben Castro graduated from Superior High School in 1950 and soon after began his lengthy career with the Magma Copper Railroad. He was a dedicated and valuable employee of the company for 32 years, serving over the years as a foreman and a state certified railroad track inspector.

Ruben took a leave of absence from his employment to serve his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was awarded his Paratrooper Jump wings in the 82nd Airborne Division, and following his two years of military service, he returned to Magma Copper Railroad.

On October 22, 1960, Ruben married Estella Quiroz, and they went on to raise five children together in the Superior community. He strived to devote his life to his family and to God, serving St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church as a Eucharistic Minister and often portraying Jesus in the passion play during Holy Week. Ruben was a dedicated member of the Knights of Columbus, and he enjoyed spending time with his family and participating in outdoor activities such as camping, fishing and hiking.

A loving and devoted husband and father, Ruben Castro will be greatly missed by his wife, Estella, his children, Michael Ruben (Cheryl), John (Janna), Steven (Sheryl), Anna (Raul) and Diana (David), his 10 grandchildren and his great-grandchild.

Therefore

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of Arizona:

      That the Members of the House of Representatives regret the passing of Ruben T. Castro and extend their deepest sympathies to his family and friends.
