An Act
amending section 16-168.01, Arizona Revised Statutes; relating to voter registration.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:
Section 1. Section 16-168.01, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended to read:
16-168.01. State contributions to the voter registration system fund; exemption; voter registration system committee; duties
a. The county state contributions to the voter registration system fund is established consisting of monies transferred from counties allocated to the secretary of state pursuant to an agreement between a county and the secretary of state relating to developing and administering the statewide database of voter registration information required by section 16-168. The secretary of state shall administer the fund. Monies in the fund are exempt from the provisions of section 35-190 relating to lapsing of appropriations. Monies in the fund are continuously appropriated to the secretary of state to develop and administer the statewide database of voter registration information.
B. The voter registration system committee is established within the secretary of state's office and CONSISTS of the fifteen county recorders or the recorders' designees and the secretary of state or the secretary of state's designee.
C. On or before January 1, 2024, the committee shall:
1. select from its membership a chairperson and a vice chairperson, who shall serve as chairperson in the absence of the chairperson.
2. Oversee the ADMINISTRATION of the fund and contract negotiations for and the maintenance and OPERATIONS of the statewide voter registration database.
