SENATE AMENDMENTS TO S.B. 1022

Strike everything after the enacting clause and insert:

"Section 1. Title 28, chapter 3, article 10, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding section 28-798, to read:

START_STATUTE28-798. Pedestrian on traffic island or median prohibited; exceptions

A. A PEDESTRIAN MAY NOT REMAIN ON A PAINTED TRAFFIC MEDIAN OR A RAISED TRAFFIC ISLAND OR MEDIAN THAT IS LESS THAN ten FEET WIDE EXCEPT WHILE EXPEDITIOUSLY CROSSING THE traffic MEDIAN OR ISLAND FROM ONE SIDE OF A STREET TO ANOTHER.

B. This section does not apply to either of the following:

1. A PERSON who IS DEALING WITH AN EXIGENT CIRCUMSTANCE, INCLUDING A MEDICAL EMERGENCy OR a motor vehicle problem.

2. A traffic MEDIAN OR ISLAND that CONTAINS CONSTRUCTED PATHS, SIDEWALKS, BUs STOPS, BENCHES OR SIMILAR STRUCTURES that are DESIGNED TO ACCOMMODATE a person's presence.END_STATUTE"
