Overview

Appropriates $10,000,000 from the state General Fund (GF) in FY 2024 to the Arizona State Parks Board (ASPB) to establish a state park at the headwaters of the Verde River.

History

ASPB consists of seven members, including the State Land Commissioner and six other Arizona residents who are appointed by the Governor to a term of six years (A.R.S. § 41-511). The statutory purpose and objective of ASPB is to acquire, establish and maintain areas of interest for the education and recreation of the people (A.R.S. § 41-511.3).

According to the U.S. Forest Service, the Verde River is a federally-designated wild and scenic river (U.S. Forest Service). The Verde River's headwaters are located east of Paulden, Arizona (NAU).
