SCR1018: prohibit tax; monitoring; vehicle mileage

Overview

Restricts counties, cities, towns, municipal corporations and political subdivisions from imposing a tax, rule or law based on vehicle miles traveled.

History

Vehicle miles traveled means the number of miles traveled by a motor vehicle for commute trips. A mile traveled by a reduced emission vehicle shall be counted as less than a full vehicle mile traveled for travel reduction plan purposes. (A.R.S. § 49-581)

Provisions

1. Prohibits a county, city, town, municipal corporation or political subdivision from imposing a tax on a person based on vehicle miles traveled. (Sec. 1)

2. Prohibits a county, city, town, municipal corporation or political subdivision from imposing any rule or law to monitor or limit the vehicle miles traveled of someone in a motor vehicle. (Sec. 1)
