appropriation; coordinated homeless services
Purpose
Appropriates $25,000,000 from the state General Fund (state GF) in FY 2024 to the Department of Economic Security (DES) for coordinated homeless services.
Background
DES is separated into seven divisions: 1) the Division of Aging and Adult Services; 2) the Division of Benefits and Medical Eligibility; 3) the Division of Child Support Services; 4) the Division of Developmental Disabilities; 5) the Division of Employment and Rehabilitation Services; 6) the Arizona Early Intervention Program; and 7) the Division of Community Outreach. DES administrates employment services, individual and family services, income maintenance services, rehabilitation services, administrative services, manpower planning, economic opportunity services, intellectual disability and other developmental disability programs and nonmedical home and community-based services. DES is administered by a Director who is appointed by the Governor and approved by the Senate (DES).
In FY 2024, Coordinated Homeless Services programs within DES baseline funding is $3,522,600, made up of $1,873,100 from the state GF and $1,649,500 in other funds (JLBC Baseline).
S.B. 1462 appropriates $25,000,000 from the state GF in FY 2024 to DES.
Provisions
1. Appropriates $25,000,000 from the state GF in FY 2024 to DES for coordinated homeless services.
2. Becomes effective on the general effective date.
