appropriation; state aviation fund

Purpose

Appropriates $20,000,000 from the state General Fund (state GF) in FY 2024 to the State Aviation Fund (Fund).

Background

The Fund consists of monies from: 1) aviation fuel taxes or motor vehicle fuel taxes; 2) the sale of an abandoned aircraft or a seized aircraft; 3) the flight property tax; 4) aircraft-related registration fees, license taxes and penalties; 5) the Arizona Department of Transportation's operation of airports; and 6) the jet fuel excise tax and jet fuel use tax. The State Transportation Board is required to use monies from the Fund for planning, design, development, acquisition of interests in land, construction and improvement of publicly owned and operated airport facilities in counties, incorporated cities and towns and Indian reservations (A.R.S. § 28-8202).

S.B. 1504 appropriates $20,000,000 from the state GF in FY 2024 to the Fund.

Provisions

1.   Appropriates $20,000,000 from the state GF in FY 2024 to the Fund.

2.   Becomes effective on the general effective date.
