ARIZONA STATE SENATE

appropriation; Goodyear; Estrella Parkway bridge
Purpose
Appropriates $10,000,000 from the state General Fund (state GF) in FY 2024 to the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) to distribute to the City of Goodyear (Goodyear) to improve the Estrella Parkway bridge.
Background
ADOT is responsible for the design and construction of state public transportation systems and the maintenance and operation of state highways in Arizona (A.R.S. § 28-332). ADOT may contract and do all things necessary to secure the full benefits available to Arizona for transportation purposes under federal law. ADOT may cooperate with: 1) federal, state and local government agencies; 2) Indian tribes; 3) private and public organizations; and 4) private individuals. ADOT may exchange federal monies with local governments in order to receive local monies and may include additional federal monies in the exchange to offset the matching costs required of local governments (A.R.S. § 28-334).
The Estrella Parkway bridge runs north-south across the Gila River approximately 1.5 miles south of West Broadway Road. The bridge is approximately 2,200 feet long (Goodyear Maps).
S.B. 1516 appropriates $10,000,000 from the state GF in FY 2024 to ADOT to distribute to Goodyear.
Provisions
1. Appropriates $10,000,000 from the state GF in FY 2024 to ADOT to distribute to Goodyear to improve the Estrella Parkway bridge.
2. Becomes effective on the general effective date.
