ARIZONA STATE SENATE
Fifty-Sixth Legislature, First Regular Session
hunting; angling; wildlife conservation
Purpose
Urges the U.S. Congress to respect and support hunting and angling by Arizona sportsmen and sportswomen.
Background
The Arizona Game and Fish Commission (Commission) appoints the Director of the Arizona Game and Fish Department (AZGFD) (A.R.S. § 17-211). The Commission must create hunting, trapping and fishing rules including deciding the manner and methods that can be used in taking wildlife (A.R.S. § 17-231). The AZGFD publishes the Commission's Arizona Hunting Regulations annually which includes restrictions on weapons used, when and how to apply for a permit to hunt or fish and where and what time of year a person may hunt (AZGFD). The Commission may purchase, sell or barter wildlife to stock public or private lands when in the interest of conservation (A.R.S. § 17-231).
There is no anticipated fiscal impact to the state General Fund associated with this legislation.
