After line 37, insert:
"Sec. 2. Effective date; notification
A. Section 36-694, Arizona Revised Statutes, as amended by this act, is effective the earlier of either of the following:
1. October 1, 2026.
2. The date Duchenne muscular dystrophy is added to the recommended uniform screening panel adopted by the secretary of the United States department of health and human services.
B. The director of the department of health services shall notify the director of the Arizona legislative council in writing within ten days after the date that Duchenne muscular dystrophy is added to the recommended uniform screening panel adopted by the secretary of the United States department of health and human services."
