HCR2003: groundwater management; technical correction
Sponsor: Representative Griffin, LD 19
Committee on Natural Resources, Energy & Water
Overview
Makes a technical correction relating to groundwater management.
History
When determining if an assured water supply exists, the Arizona Department of Water Resources Director (Director) must find that a groundwater replenishment district (District) member's projected groundwater use is consistent with achieving the management goal for the active management area (AMA) if specified criteria is met. Statute outlines procedures for terminating an assured water supply designation for a member that is a municipal provider and no longer meets the specified criteria (A.R.S. § 45-576.01, 45-576.05).
Member land of a District includes any real property that satisfies specified criteria including being located in an AMA in which the Central Arizona Project aqueduct is located (A.R.S. § 48-3774).
