Overview
Modifies the maximum amount a director of a sanitary district receives per month.
History
Sanitary districts having an area of 160 acres or more must be governed by a board of directors of at least three members. Members of the board must be qualified electors of the district and are fully vested with the powers and duties of the office once they are appointed. Each director of a sanitary district must receive, at most, $150 monthly, or a lesser amount as set by the board of directors of the district plus the necessary traveling expenses. Members of the county board of supervisors, when serving as directors of a sanitary district must not receive compensation for attending meetings but must be reimbursed for their necessary expenses (A.R.S. § 48-2010).
Provisions
1. Increases the limit each director of a sanitary district must receive monthly from $150 to $336. (Sec. 1)
2. Establishes that beginning in 2029, and every five years thereafter, the board of directors of a given sanitary district can modify the amount paid to directors based on the change in the Consumer Price Index as published by the Bureau of Labor Statistics during the preceding five years. (Sec. 1)
